Charles S. Jones
Chief Executive Officer & Chairman
Mr. Jones has spent much of his career as an operating executive for a wide range of large, public international companies and small, growth-driven private companies based in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Mr. Jones has a reputation for innovation and customer-centric growth strategies. He was Global Chief Operating Officer of London-based Shandwick plc, which during his tenure became the largest public relations firm in the world. Before becoming Managing Partner of Bedford Funding, Mr. Jones was Chairman and then CEO of Markham, Ontario-based Geac Computer Corporation, a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed software company with annual revenues approaching U.S. $500 million. During Mr. Jones’s tenure, he transformed the Geac business with two large public-company acquisitions, and built an innovative and market-leading business intelligence software enterprise, focused on the financial value chain. On October 1, 2001, the Wall Street Journal named Geac the number one performing global stock. In 2004, Mr. Jones was named on the top 10 list of CEOs in Canada and, in 2005, on the top 25 list of CEOs in Canada by Canada’s National Post newspaper.
Chief Growth Officer
Mindy joined MDLIVE as Chief Growth Officer with over 20 years of experience leveraging data and insights to create breakthrough marketing programs. She has a solid track record launching new business opportunities, driving marketing strategy and personalization, and building high performing teams.
Most recently, Mindy was a Group Vice President at Walgreens where she was responsible for driving customer behavior among Walgreens’ 90 million Balance Rewards loyalty program members, as well as the associated sales and profit impacts.
Before joining Walgreens, Mindy spent the majority of her career focused on customer loyalty, personalized marketing, and insights; primarily working with retail and consumer goods companies. Mindy earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from University of Illinois, and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati.
Chief People Officer
Malvika possesses 10+ years of progressive human resources experience in the consulting, technology, industrial and consumer goods industries.
Malvika brings to MDLIVE, Inc. a high level of strategic acuity, operational know-how and an entrepreneurial mindset. Most recently, she served as the Vice President Global Human Resources at Flavors Holdings Inc., a food ingredients company, where she oversaw the HR function for an organization of 600 employees across 21 countries. Prior to Flavors Holdings Inc., Malvika held key HR and Talent leadership roles at Danaher Corporation and at CareerBuilder.com.
In these roles, Malvika helped various businesses position themselves successfully for growth by building organizational and leadership capabilities, driving engagement and culture initiatives and developing and executing strategies to attract and retain top talent. Malvika has gained experience in M&A, both on the buy and sell side, and has also led complex organizations in public as well as private companies.
Malvika earned her Bachelor in Business Administration degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She speaks English, Hindi and conversational French. Malvika was born and raised in Mumbai, India and enjoys travel, reading, working on her French and spending time with family and friends in her free time.
Nakort Valles Leon
Chief Technology Officer
Nakort Valles brings more than 10 years of experience crafting highly scalable software. Prior to joining MDLIVE in November 2015, Nakort was co-founder of YACFirm, a consulting company specializing in bringing world class development to startup companies.
Chief Information Security Officer
Tony brings more than 20 years of experience in information security, information system risk mitigation, and asset protection to MDLIVE. He has a proven track record of elevating the effectiveness of organizations, policies, and programs to drive business value and to mitigate risks across large and complex environments. He possesses expertise in assessing, defining, advocating, and driving the adoption of risk management strategies, controls, and models that have enabled organizations to comply with evolving regulatory requirements, advance cybersecurity, strengthen resiliency of computing ecosystems, and achieve cultural transformations.
Before joining MDLIVE, Tony spent the better part of two decades at Raleigh-based Learning Technologies Group Inc., a market leader in the rapidly growing workplace digital learning and talent management market. In his most recent role as VP & Chief Information Security Officer, Tony was responsible for enterprise security in information asset management, risk and vulnerability management, audit and compliance, security awareness, and training.
Chief Legal Officer
Rachel has 20+ years as a general counsel and executive leader with broad health care law, corporate/transactional, governance, regulatory and employment experience. Most recently, Rachel served for 10 years as Executive Vice President & General Counsel for Sinai Health System, Illinois’ largest private safety-net health system serving Chicago communities disproportionately affected by illness, poverty and other social challenges. In addition to her role as the Chief Legal Officer for Sinai, Rachel served as the executive lead for the Board Governance Committee, and as legal advisor to the Board Finance, Government Affairs, and Audit and Compliance Committees. Rachel also was appointed as the Interim Executive for the Sinai Urban Health Institute, focused on developing innovative, evidence based population health management solutions and improving health equity.
Before joining Sinai, Rachel served for 8 years as Deputy General Counsel for Northwestern Memorial Health Care, a large Academic Medical Center in Chicago.
Rachel received her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Colgate University, and her law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School. Following law school, she clerked for United States District Court Judge Edward Rafeedie, was an Associate in the Health Law Department of McDermott, Will & Emery and served as Associate General Counsel for Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Rachel also served as President of the Illinois Association of Health Care Attorneys and as an Adjunct Lecturer in Health Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. In 2017, Rachel received a Role Model Award from the Harvard Law School Society of Illinois and in 2016, a First Chair Award honoring top in house counsel.
Rachel is a member of the Board of Directors of Chicago Sinai Congregation and the Youth Guidance Organization’s Council on Working on Womanhood (“WOW”), which provides counseling and mentoring to over two thousand young women in 40 Chicago Public Schools. Rachel also served for many years as a tutor with Tutoring Chicago (f/k/a Cabrini Green Tutoring Program).
Cynthia B.R Zelis, MD, MBA
Chief Medical Officer
Cynthia B.R Zelis, MD, MBA joined MDLIVE with 20+ years of clinical leadership as a health care executive and primary care physician. A Board Certified Family physician, Dr. Zelis has demonstrated across numerous roles in health systems the ability to impact health care transformation through physician collaboration, change management and innovative technology development.
Just prior to MDLIVE, Cindy served as the Vice President of Ambulatory Operations and Telehealth at University Hospitals Cleveland where she was the strategic and operational lead for 50+ Ambulatory Health Centers and Telehealth across the $4B Dollar Health System. In this role, Dr. Zelis was responsible for the partnership between MDLIVE & University Hospitals Cleveland, managing implementation and adoption, as well as serving as a member of MDLIVE’s strategic client council. Dr. Zelis has a solid track record of leading high value health care strategies including a comprehensive approach using data, digital tools, and process improvement to advance physician alignment resulting in over $140M in net revenue growth.
An innovator at heart, Dr. Zelis co-invented and served as operational leader for a self-scheduling platform resulting in thousands of appointments scheduled monthly across a single health system. While at University Hospitals, Dr. Zelis increased telehealth volumes by over 80% and created foundational work to support the additional exponential growth during the recent COVID Pandemic. Recognized numerous times as a “Top Doctor” as well as one of University Hospitals Cleveland Distinguished physicians, Cindy earned her Medical Degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and Health Care MBA from Baldwin Wallace University.
Chief Operations Officer
Andy joined MDLIVE with 20+ years of experience in consumer-driven businesses, management consulting, and private equity. He brings a strong P&L mindset and is well equipped to help continue to scale the business while instilling operational excellence, process rigor, and a strong commitment to patient and clinician satisfaction.
Most recently, Andy was Vice President of the Customer Offer Development team at Walgreens Co., where he was responsible for launching new business models to support future growth. Prior to this role, he led retail transformation and built a high performing insights team that was leveraged for strategic decision making.
Prior to joining Walgreens, Andy spent much of his career in management consulting at Bain & Company, leading a variety of strategy and performance improvement projects across multiple industries. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematical methods in the social sciences and economics, magna cum laude, from Northwestern University, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
Chief Financial Officer
Christopher joined MDLIVE as Chief Financial Officer with over 20 years of financial leadership experience in Healthcare and Technology focused businesses. He has a solid track record of building high performing teams, driving strategy, and raising capital to support growth. Most recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Catasys, Inc. (NASDAQ: CATS), where he led the Finance, Human Resource and Strategic Partnership functions of the company through a period of tremendous growth. Prior to joining Catasys, Inc., Christopher served as the Chief Financial Officer of Sentient Science Corporation and GE Intelligent Platforms Software. Christopher earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and completed General Electric Company’s Experienced Financial Leadership Program.
Chief Product Officer
As chief product officer, Kaiser will be responsible for driving the company’s product portfolio strategy, product lifecycle management, and new product development with a focus on continuously improving the overall consumer experience. Kaiser brings to MDLIVE 20 years of finance, strategy, marketing, and leadership experience in Healthcare. Most recently, she served as a consultant for Walgreens’ financial services business, where she developed and executed the strategy and product roadmap for Walgreen’s customer-facing payment products. Before this, Kaiser held senior leadership positions in both Walgreens Boots Alliance’s global strategy and Walgreens’ finance and marketing departments. Kaiser earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
Chief of Staff
George Regnery is Vice President, Chief of Staff at MDLIVE. He assists the CEO on a variety of projects, including market and financial analysis. He previously worked for Bedford Funding, a private equity fund, and an investor in MDLIVE.
At Bedford Funding, George analyzed potential acquisition candidates and performed financial analysis of portfolio companies. Before this, he worked for Geac Computer Corporation, Wright Investors Service, and Reuters, in various finance roles.
George has a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester. In addition, George studied at WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany.
Chief Corporate Development Officer
Jon serves as MDLIVE’s Chief Corporate Development Officer. With over 25 years of investment, operational, financial, and legal affairs leadership in healthcare and technology-focused businesses, Jon has a solid track record of identifying, evaluating, and executing growth opportunities through strategic partnerships, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other third-party relationships. He has extensive experience in healthcare M&A and partnerships, including managing all phases of analysis, due diligence, transaction structuring and execution, go-to-market strategies, and operational implementation.
Jon also serves as Managing Director of Bedford Funding, a private equity firm focused on growth equity investments in Healthcare and Technology focused businesses. His responsibilities have included the sourcing and execution of the firm’s investment strategy, portfolio management activities, and managing intermediary relationships. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors and on various PeopleFluent and KZO Innovations committees.
Before joining Bedford Funding, Jon served as Vice President and General Counsel of Unica Corporation, where he was responsible for the company’s worldwide legal affairs. He previously served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Deputy General Counsel of Geac, where he advised the company’s Board of Directors and senior management team on complex strategic, commercial, and operational issues, and corporate governance matters, as well as managing acquisition and divestiture initiatives and partnerships worldwide.
Jon received a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, from Colgate University and has participated in the Fellows Program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Revenue Officer
Michael is responsible for the overall direction, focus, and performance of the company’s client services and sales organization. Michael’s responsibilities include accountability for the financials of the company, client relationships, satisfaction, marketing, utilization and business development efforts for all MDLIVE solutions and services in all business segments across the United States. Michael joined MDLIVE in March of 2018. Prior to his arrival at MDLIVE, Michael worked for Cerner Corporation in a variety of executive and leadership positions for the past 13 years. Cerner Corporation is a multi-billion-dollar global healthcare technology company that is publicly traded on the Nasdaq. Michael is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City and has a Bachelor of Arts in business from the Henry Bloch School of Business. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Park University. Michael and his family reside in Kansas City, MO.
Vice President, Call Center
Erick has been with the MDLIVE family for 3 years and is responsible for all Customer Service Operations today with a focus on leveraging technology and new processes to deliver more efficient and scalable consumer solutions. He is responsible for developing the new capabilities and processes to support existing or planned new product offerings and deliver a world class consumer experience for all our solutions.
He has over twenty years of customer service experience in a call center environment with significant experience in healthcare. Prior to joining MDLIVE, he has held various positions such as Director of Customer Service & Inside Sales, Director of Client and Service Operations and Call Quality Manager that span a broad scope of responsibilities including: Call center operations, Claims Intake & Clinical Administration, Billing & Eligibility, Project Leadership, Appeals & Grievances Coordinating and Outbound Sales & Resource Planning.
He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and has managed projects achieving Corporate Presidential Awards for developing solutions that maximize efficiencies, cost savings and increasing data quality.
Interim Chief Compliance Officer
Paul Goldman, MBA, CHC, CHPC is a senior Executive with over 40 years’ experience in managing and motivating staff. He has C-Suite experience in creating/managing corporate areas of Executive Management, Compliance, Strategic Planning, Financial Analysis and P&L management. He is highly adept in identifying gaps and/or risk exposure in operations as well as developing and implementing strong systems of corporate checks-and-balances. He has strong listening, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills as well as a keen sense of bottom-line profitability.
